WHAT IS STAINLESS STEEL 347?

Stainless steel 347 is a super allow with special properties that can be used in various industries. It is an austenitic, stabilized, chromium steel that contains an element known as columbium which is the main ingredients behind the elimination of carbide precipitation, and, consequently, intergranular corrosion. The steel of this type is recommended for use under high pressure and high temperature areas. They are recommended for parts fabricated by welding which cannot be subsequently annealed. Stainless steel 347 is used for parts that are heated and cooled continuously to temperatures between 800°F and 1600°F.

The stainless steel of this grade in general provides superior intergranular corrosion resistance due to stabilization using columbium. The alloy is useful under high temperature and can provide service continuously for a maximum temperature of up to 1650°F. It thus has better high temperature properties than stainless steel of type 304 or 304.
