WHAT IS MONEL?

Monel is a nickel-based alloy that has up to 67% nickel and 20-29% copper, with small amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. It is highly resistant to corrosion by many agents, has great strength and is highly resistant to alkalis. It has great malleability and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion. Monel can be easily welded, brazed and soldered.

Monel has various grades such as Alloy 400, Alloy 401, Alloy R-405, Alloy 450, Alloy K-500, Monel 404 Copper-Nickel Alloy. Standard products of Monel are found in the form of round, hexagon, flats, forging stock, pipe, tube, plate, sheet, strip, and wire.

Monel is highly expensive and thus has applications where it cannot be replaced with cheaper alternatives.
