What is Hastelloy C22?

It is an alloy of nickel, chromium and molybdenum. It is highly corrosion resistant and has great metallurgical stability. It is not sensitive towards heating and welding.

It has enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, as well as stress corrosion cracking. Chromium provides resistance to oxidizing media, while tungsten and molybdenum resist corrosion resistance. It also exhibits excellent resistance towards wet chlorine and oxidizing acids with chlorine ions. It also shows resistance towards mixtures containing nitric acid. It can be easily welded.

It also prevents grain boundary precipitation in weld-heat affected zones. It also resists environments with oxidizers like ferric acids, acetic anhydride, sea water and brine solution.
