What is Hastelloy C22?

It is an alloy of nickel, chromium and molybdenum. It is highly corrosion resistant and has great metallurgical stability. It is not sensitive towards heating and welding.

It has enhanced resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, as well as stress corrosion cracking. Chromium provides resistance to oxidizing media, while tungsten and molybdenum resist corrosion resistance. It also exhibits excellent resistance towards wet chlorine and oxidizing acids with chlorine ions. It also shows resistance towards mixtures containing nitric acid. It can be easily welded.

It also prevents grain boundary precipitation in weld-heat affected zones. It also resists environments with oxidizers like ferric acids, acetic anhydride,seawater and brine solution.

It is a useful alloy that has a numerous applications in many industries. Pharmaceutical industries use it in fittings and tubing for corrosion resistance. It is also used in chlorination systems. It is also used in the scrubbers in the incineration systems and waste water management systems. Cellophane manufacturing plants and pulp and paper industries also use Hastelloy C22.

Ball vales are made in types : two way and three way. The maximum working pressure is 6000 PSI ( 400 Bar ) at 20-250 degree Celsius. For higher pressure, upto 10,000 PSI ( 700 Bar ) consumers must go for High pressure Stainless Steel Ball Valves.
